Healthier options for kids in Davis, CA!
Davis, California just became the first jurisdiction in the country to ensure that default beverages on restaurant children’s menus are water or milk, and not soda or other sugary drinks. Read the ordinance, which states: “Sugary beverages play a central and unique role in the obesity epidemic. Studies have found a significant link between sugary drink consumption and weight gain in children...” Source: CSPI
 
Healthy school meals = a success!
While some politicians use anecdotes to argue that it's not possible for schools to serve healthy school meals, data from USDA and academics show that it's not only possible, but that most schools across the country are actually serving healthier food and kids are eating it. GFF celebrates new moms in Brownsville! 
Momsrising.org recently co-sponsored a Shower Me community baby shower in Brownsville, NY, celebrating expectant moms in their second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Twenty-five beautiful moms-to-be were gifted essential nursery supplies, clothing and gear, information on prenatal and postpartum care, and access to resources to support healthy parenting. Shower Me created a community safe space for mothers to positively reflect upon their experiences, fears, and joys around motherhood. Read more on the MomsRising.org blog.
