Day-after-day immigrant caregivers help keep families and children healthy and safe! They are truly unsung heroes! "I have personally benefited from the work of immigrant home health aides. During this pandemic they made it possible for me as an elderly disabled person, to stay home when New York City was ground zero for the disease. They braved the risks of the pandemic to come to work, and therefore keep me alive." - MomsRising member from New York City Across the country immigrants make up more than 18% of the nation's healthcare workers, 18% of childcare workers, 27% of the direct care...

Born and raised in Mexico City, Martha Mouret-Sanders never imagined one day she would have to leave her family and home behind. Until one spring morning on her way to her college classes. “I came to this country in 2001 after being kidnapped. My parents, after that situation, they didn’t think it was safe there.” She applied for a student visa instead of seeking asylum since the process is lengthy and wouldn’t guarantee her immediate status in the U.S. Mouret-Sanders enrolled at Texas Tech University where she had to face new challenges. “In that moment when I came and I became a student at...

Elections are over (mostly) and these next few weeks are critically important for immigrant families and preventing a new wave of family separation! Right now, we are expecting a court decision that will likely end DACA, (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program) which provides legal status for Dreamers, people who were brought to this country as children, making it the only place they have ever called home. This decision would be devastating, not just to the 600,000+ people enrolled in the program but to thousands of families and children as well as America’s workforce, communities...

Earlier this week, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals gave a temporary reprieve to current DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients. This is great because DACA is a critical program that ensures people who were brought to the U.S. as children can live and work in the communities where they have grown up. However, it is very clear that the DACA program is in grave peril, primarily because Congress has failed to create permanent protections for the hundreds of thousands of people who were brought to this country as children, making it the only place they have ever called home...

We are so relieved that the Biden administration is putting an end to the use – or misuse – of Title 42, a policy started by the Trump administration to deny asylum-seekers their right to seek safety in the United States. But we’re still not in the clear of ending this policy that is a violation of international human rights once and for all! What’s Happening? Since the announcement from the White House that it would end the use of Title 42, some in Congress have threatened to overturn this decision through legislation. We need to make sure that our Congressional representatives know that...

We all want to be able to move past the collective trauma we have experienced over the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that access to vaccines, boosters, therapeutics, and tests are critical to combat the virus, keep schools and businesses open, ensure our continued economic recovery, and keep families safe and healthy. But astonishingly, Republicans in Washington, D.C. are holding up $10 billion in funding for these vital, life-saving tools, to score political points with their far-right anti-immigrant base. Quick signature: Tell Congress to pass the COVID-19 relief...

The images are shocking and the actions are horrifying -- U.S. Border Patrol agents on horseback brandishing whips or lariats against Haitian migrants seeking safety. And even if those actions turn out to be isolated incidents not sanctioned by our government, our official immigration policy toward Haiti is just as callous. Just one month after a catastrophic 7.2 magnitude earthquake exacerbated the economic, political, and human rights crises in Haiti, ICE is deporting Haitian immigrants to Haiti, without even giving them the opportunity to apply for asylum, which is their legal right under...
