Something really amazing has been happening.  Amidst the bickering in Washington D.C., some voices are rising above the din.  And guess what?  They're ours!!  MomsRising members from around the country have been raising our voices, sharing our personal stories, sending in messages to leaders, and... even winning!

Moms like Desiree Rosado from Connecticut who shared her story about the financial hardships her family endured when she had to take many weeks off without pay from her job to care for her children when they had the H1N1 virus.  Desiree's passionate voice helped convinced lawmakers in Connecticut to pass legislation guaranteeing the right of workers to earn paid sick days, igniting a wave of similar legislation around the nation.

We know there are challenges ahead -- a tough economy, hungry children, and threats to our environment.

The good news this year is that we're seeing people, moms, like Desiree across the nation rising up to meet these challenges.  And together we will find solutions.   We have the power to create a better world for our children.

With over a million members, a social media reach estimated at 3.5 million readers, and over 450 bloggers, MomsRising can continue to make a big difference in our national conversation during the coming pivotal election year.

If just 1000 of us make a small monthly donation of $5, the price of a cup of coffee, we can double our capacity to bring our voices directly to elected leaders.

Making a small but steady donation of $5 a month from just 1,000 people would allow our community to hugely expand our work in this coming critical year.

It's people that power MomsRising. We don't take money from government or corporations because this could compromise our mission. So we're relying on you, our members, to support our most strategic work to influence legislators.  Please help us grow our movement by making a contribution now.

With your support, we'll keep raising the voices of moms like Desiree, Emily, Gail, and Jessica who came to the White House to share their stories about how Medicaid is a lifesaver for their families. There are heroes in our midst.  And in fact, we've learned from you, our amazing members, that there is a hero lurking within each of us. We've seen it time and again.

All we need is your help to keep raising the strong and true voices of moms and dads who make our nation's leaders understand what real life is like for families.

And our voices are critical right now.

In the coming year, we'll face major challenges.  MomsRising will be mobilizing our members to protect our environment, rid our stores of toxic toys and consumer goods, fight for jobs and fair pay, make sure that promise of health care reform is realized, and ensure that the programs like unemployment insurance, food stamps, and Medicaid that are helping so many families struggling with job loss stay afloat do not become the primary targets for budget cuts.

Your very small donation of $5 dollars a month will make a huge difference in these fights.

Our organization has very low overhead because MomsRising staff all work out of our homes.  We don't have an office so we keep our expenses low and our workplace flexibility high.  (It's rare not to hear a baby crying in the background of our conference calls.)  So every one of your dollars gets used for our campaigns to influence policymakers.   We use our money wisely and in just five years, we've grown from a handful of members to over a million members nationwide.

We're so honored that you have chosen to be part of this movement and regardless of whether you are able to help us financially, we are so grateful to you for believing in us and believing in each other.

Thank you for everything you do for our nation's families and Happy Holidays!
