It’s finally happening! Today, December 1st, 2023, after years of advocacy—North Carolina is expanding Medicaid coverage to low-income uninsured adults. We need your help to get the word out!

Quick action: Help your community get health coverage with NC Medicaid expansion!

We could not be more excited! MomsRising volunteers like you have taken thousands of actions in recent years to encourage our lawmakers to expand Medicaid coverage so that our friends, neighbors, and loved ones can get the health care coverage they need. And today is the day it’s finally happening! More North Carolinians can now get covered through Medicaid!

Can you help get the word out? We’ve made it super easy for you to help spread the word about Medicaid expansion with a social media toolkit and flyer you can share online and with your community.

Starting today, more low-income North Carolinians can get the health coverage they need for little or no cost. Medicaid covers primary care, maternity and postpartum care, hospital services, prescription drugs, mental health, vision, hearing, dental, and more. This coverage will be life-changing for hundreds of thousands of low-income adults who can’t afford health insurance.

Who qualifies for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?

  • You must live in North Carolina
  • You are ages 19 through 64
  • You are a citizen (some non-US citizens can also get health care coverage through Medicaid)
  • Your household income is below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level

If you’re uninsured, you can apply for health coverage through Medicaid today, too! Simply go to epass.nc.gov to create an account and get started.
