Did you know that there’s a loophole in Washington state law that allows big corporations, like Starbucks, to claim unspent customer dollars left on gift cards as revenue?

It added up to $255 million in the last year alone that they can use to pad their profits, which can inflate executive bonuses!

It’s time to put a stop to it. Sign the petition to pass the WA Gift Card Accountability bill package!

This money belongs back in the hands of consumers. Or, like in other states, gift card money – if left unclaimed for 3+ years – should fund vital services across the state.

In WA, the package could raise approximately $2.5 billion over 10 years for public health, education, and housing.

We joined the Washington Consumer Protection Coalition to put the public good over corporate greed – join us and sign the petition to close the loophole.
