Following the birth of my first child we were both able to work reduced schedules and spend more time with our child and each other. It was really great, and worth the slight hit in income for us. Although I realize saying this that I am coming from a place of privilege.

We did still use part-time daycare because my husband's freelance schedule was too unpredictable for a true 'tag team' approach. And there were times we were like ships passing in the night. But on the whole I think it was a great arrangement, and I think our daughter did, too.
