I think our President made a few excellent points. The first is that the parties have to work together to solve problems. He admits he can not do it alone. He was very witty but also humble. Others points he made were to curb lobbyist (strict limits), Equal pay for women, which is long past due, and I think my favorite line, “We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions.”

And Heath Care. On my blog I shared why I am personally for health care. I think it is a travisty that our country does not have health care and I pray it goes through. This is the closest we have ever gotten to having it implemented.

Also I like the idea of given people money for college so they don’t have a huge debt. I am still paying on my years later. There were many great points. I also like the idea of improving a child’s education. Having be the American parents of several foreign exchange students it is amazing how far ahead many countries are in education.

I hope but am not sure if all our combat troops will be able to be pulled out of Iraq but I hope so. There is a strong democratic underground movement at work there and it is a shame he did not acknowledge them.

I think I have written enough… Just my thoughts.

He did okay. I liked that he mentioned financial reform, protection for consumers.

Was surprised about comment regarding equal pay. How long have we been hearing that now and how will he implement that?

Grr. . . equal pay for equal work is NOT about legislating that equal pay is required. It is about providing access to affordable childcare FOR ALL. It is about ensuring reasonable work hours FOR ALL. It is about REAL annual leave, sick leave, and flex leave FOR ALL. Once those things are guaranteed, then equal pay will happen. Grr. . .

@elizqueenmama, I think it’s a good point that all these things are connected.

I LIKED HIS SPEECH ABOUT GIVING EACH FAMILY $10,000.00 TOWARD COLLEGE. THE TITLE POSITION I HELD FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS NOW NEEDS TO BE CERTIFIED. I HAVE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL. I AM FOR THAT MONEY NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT FOR MY CHILDREN WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO MAKE COLLEGE PAYMENTS .

Here we go – let’s clear this stuff up, Mr. President! Thank you for not walking away from us! It’s time to fix health care and fix it NOW. I’m looking for collaboration, not divisive punditry.

@Rebecca Hall, Amen! We need to get everyone on both sides of the aisle on board for real reform now, reform that works for kids and families.

He sure seems to be sucking up to the far right (opening up offshore drilling, etc.)…?

Glad to hear a lot of concern for small business owners, so many of which are women/mom-owned, including stay at home moms.

Really – the republicans can’t even applaud for all those tax cuts? I am sick and tired of the partisan attitude in Washington. Just quit it and fix things, alreadky.

If it were not for Medicare, I would have died from a heart attack because had not health insurance before Medicare. I think it is really bad news that we do not have health care for everyone. It is unforgivable. I have lost all faith in the religious right folks for not pushing for health care for everyone. I now think the religious right folks are selfish and hipocratic. I also think the Republican folks are ignorant and have no idea what they are doing by not supporting health care reform.
