November 19, 2006 at 6:20 pm by AnonymousWomen throughout the US are receiving BAD news about pregnancy and childbirth — and that the US has one of the highest infant & maternal mortality rates among all developing nations — is rarely covered in the news!
Women’s rights to choose when, where, how, and with whom they will give birth have never been so compromised as they are now. Dangerous drugs, exposure to infection, delay in bonding & breastfeeding, increasing C-section rates — ALL of these contribute to mothers’ breastfeeding their babies, wives and husbands having marital problems, and increased postpartum depression rates!
Normal birth is under attack by an obstetrician Political Activist/Lobbiest group: the American College of Obstetricians/Gynecologists. They are responsible for the increasing c-section rates, lower VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) rates, poor breastfeeding outcomes, and increasing infant & maternal mortality rates in the US! Why? Because ACOG advocates physicians performing “acts” on women that are neither necessary nor backed by scientific studies for safety and efficiacy.
MIDWIVES, on the other hand, practice “evidence-based” midwifery. Everything we do is proven safe & effective by scientific studies. Go to http://www.midwiferytoday.com, http://www.MANA.org, http://www.HypnoBabies.com, for details.
WE NEED MORE MIDWIVES! Midwifery is a legal, licensed profession for women in many states. Go to http://www.NARM.org to see if your state licenses midwives. In countries where there are MORE MIDWIVES & LESS OBSTETRICIANS, infant 7 maternal mortality rates are LOWER! You can have a great career, set your own hours, decide what YOUR income will be! Go to http://www.midwiferycollege.org or http://www.midwiferytoday.com for EXCELLENT, accredited, Distance Programs!
