Tomorrow, Equal Pay Day, marks the day in 2009 when the average woman’s wages will finally catch up with those paid to the average man in 2008. The day serves as an important reminder of the persistent wage gap and the urgent need to take action to ensure that women can receive equal pay for equal work.
In honor of Equal Pay Day, the National Women’s Law Center has just released state-by-state information on how women continue to be short-changed in their pay and the economic challenges they face.
Check out where your state stands and don’t forget to post tomorrow about pay equity for women on blogs, Twitter and Facebook. You can find out more and sign up at: http://action.nwlc.org/blogforfairpay

April 28, 2009 at 6:08 pm by AnitaThis is really valuable information, especially since most of us don’t get to compare paychecks with our colleagues. There’s no way for most women to know this information without orgs like NWLC digging and doing the research.
Thank you.
