When did you realize moms have superpowers?
“The first time I helped a woman give birth as her doula, I saw how the process could be transformational. She became a force of nature. She could anticipate her newborn's needs, feed the baby with her own body. Of course, every mom is different. But I saw so often how women became spokespeople for their own lives and their families when they became moms. Caring for a newborn in the focused way of a parent empowered me to speak up much more, too. Putting my newborn's needs front and center helped me hone my voice as an advocate. Being a mom is great training for advocacy work!”
