Sorrow, Anger, ACTION! - A Gathering of Voices Against Gun Violence
More than 30 people are killed with guns each day in our nation, according to the CDC. June 14 is the six-month anniversary of Newtown, and nearly the fifth month anniversary of the tragic death of Hadiya Pendleton.
MomsRising, PICO Network, UltraViolet, Children's Defense Fund and the National Network to End Domestic Violence invite you to join your voice with ours as we remember that tragic day and use our voices to turn anger into action.
In these last six months, what have our national leaders done to help prevent such tragedies and reduce the terrible gun violence that devastates American families and communities each and every day? Sadly, not very much.
Some in Congress are hoping that the American people will forget about the gun violence that plagues our nation and go back to business as normal. We will NOT forget. We will continue to make our voices heard and to press our elected leaders for action!
WHAT: A gathering of voices/blog carnival against gun violence. All stories, commentary and thoughts, from the personal to the political, in all forms of media (text, video, audio) are welcome.
WHEN: We are accepting submissions from now through Monday, June 10, which will be published on the MomsRising blog and shared across our social media networks from June 11 through June 14. MomsRising has a social media reach of more than 3.5 million readers. On June 14, all submissions to MomsRising, PICO Network, UltraViolet, Children's Defense Fund and the National Network to End Domestic Violence will be gathered into one blog post, which will be simultaneously shared across all our networks.
HOW: Participants can submit in two ways:
Please join us. Together, we will be a voice for the safety of America’s families and communities that is more powerful than the gun lobby, and that can’t be ignored.
