Our children are hungry
As a head start teacher i work with low income families. Many of our families hold minimum wage jobs and depend on food assistance programs to feed their families. SNAP and WIC provide that much needed support. SNAP also provides funding for nutrition programs that we rely on for our head start meal programs. My kids come in hungry and often eat two bowls of cereal, fruit and milk. This gives them what they need to succeed each day. Cutting this vital program is literally taking food out of the mouths of children. Hunger is not faceless. I wish the congressional members so bent on cutting these programs could spend a day with these families and see the people they are hurting.
