$500 in my pocket!

5 years ago, after the birth of our daughter, my husband and I decided on an IUD for our birth control needs. We have EXCELLENT insurance, so were a bit taken aback when we were told that we would have to pay $500 out of pocket for the device. $500 when we had a newborn was not an easy cost to bear, but having to take a pill every day (and it's inherent risk of misuse and unintended pregnancy) was harder.

Five years later, when it came time to replace, I went to the same place to have the same device...only this time the ACA meant that my insurance had to pay for it! A better means of birth control without the huge price tag? Thanks Obamacare!!
