MomsRising executive director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner issued the following statement on last night’s shooting in Las Vegas:

“We send our love and comfort to the families and loved ones of all those murdered at the shooting last night at a country music festival in Las Vegas, and wish a speedy and full recovery to all those who were injured and traumatized.

“Our country’s moms once again mourn that even more people were added to the ranks of those victimized by our country’s gun violence epidemic with this recent horrifying act of domestic terrorism. It’s long past time to get military-style assault weapons and high capacity magazines out of the hands of civilians and to pass universal background checks. We expect each and every member of Congress to not only do just that immediately, but also to refuse to deregulate silencers as part of the Share Act which is expected to be voted on this week. Thoughts and prayers are insufficient. It’s time to save lives."
