MomsRising.org is where mothers and the people who love them go to change our world. Together we can build a nation where children, parents, and businesses thrive; and end discrimination against mothers. MomsRising listens to members and focuses advocacy where we can most quickly improve family economic security.

Our strategies are at the cutting edge of political organizing in the U.S. We employ innovative tactics that use online, on the ground, and media savvy tools to activate our members on issues they care about.

An internship at MomsRising is an opportunity to see, first hand, the development of a new era of political engagement. Not all the work is sexy -- there are a lot of spreadsheets, databases to update, reports to proofread, and more -- but all the work our interns do is important to serving our mission and our members. We don't believe in busy work.

As an intern at MomsRising, you will work with your Campaign Director and team to move forward the campaign's goals. This work includes web pages and email blasts, setting up online tools for volunteers, working with volunteers, doing research on issues, helping maintain our member database, and more! These internships are perfect for anybody who is interested in going into the fields of communications, political work, or any field where internet tools are a key element.

We're looking for smart, tech-savvy, well-organized folks who care about the issue work MomsRising does and are interested in developing their skills in communications, politics, media, or technology. We are especially looking for people who have experience organizing in communities of color and other under-represented groups. Interns can work from home and traditionally have worked approximately 20 hours a week for a stipend of $500/month. We need interns through the fall and possibly into the spring.

Current internships are in the following areas:

-Healthcare - working with our Healthcare team, these interns will work to advance the fight for healthcare for all. We need an intern to help with our national work and with work in California

-Social media - this intern will focus on our social media research and outreach to advance the work of our Healthcare team

-Paid Sick Days - working with the Paid Sick Days team, this intern will work to advance the Healthy Families Act in Congress, as well as Paid Sick Days bills in Massachusetts and New York City.

To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter to julia@momsrising.org. In your cover letter, please answer two questions:

    1) Describe a way in which using technology has impacted you as a community member. How do you participate in your community online? What tools do you use to access your online community (blogs, facebook, twitter?). Can you think of an example when you used an online tool to be politically active?

    2) Describe your experience working in communities of color and other under-represented groups.

In your resume, be sure to highlight your technical ability as well as your leadership experience and other things that show your unique abilities (including working with under-represented groups). Don't worry, we don't need tech experts, we are looking for folks who are comfortable with tech tools and learning new things.
