From A Mother's Heart

For Mother's Day this year Vocal Visions produced A CD, From A Mother's Heart, http://www.soundvisionsmedia.com/fromamothersheart.html , which is a compilation of songs done by recording artists for their Mothers. Not only that--they are dedicating a portion of their profits to MomsRising.org. What a wonderful way for them to honor their mothers and support all mothers. We are honored. Thank you.
The downloadable CD features jazz icon Sheila Jordan along with Don Braden, Ellen Johnson, Peggy Duqesnel, John Stowell, Judi Silvano, Barbara Sfraga, Mala Waldron, Brasil Brazil (Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos), Anne Belmont, Christopher Dean Sullivan, Michael T.A. Thompson, Rick Hetzer and the many other musicians contributing on each song.
Each composer includes a heartfelt message about why they wrote the song for their mother or for Mother Earth.

mums
I can so relate to the under valued Mums in this world. I live in (but am a member of momsrising) Australia and women in general here are under valued, more so if you are a mother and it's even worse if you are a solo mum. I was married for 12 years but when my x decided he needed a girlfriend instead of a wife. I became a solomum overnight and ever since then our financial situation and social status has gone south at a rapid rate. When I tell people I am a solomum I get the dirtiest looks, usually from men and married women. People treat us like welfare bludgers, yet I study full time and work part time, I volunteer at my childs school 3 days a week. Now the Australian Gov is talking about going the U.S path with food stamps, which will further degrade our lives, most nights I cry for my child because inevitably she is being punished for her fathers infidelity. That's me done.
