My Mother is Eighty Two years old and lives with my family. Twelve years ago she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Also she has been a diabetic since she was in her fifties. Her doctor told me when she got cancer that I would be lucky to have her five years. Home care has kept my Mother alive. In a nursing home she would have had a death sentence because they can't give the one on one care that I give my Mom.

I quit my full time job to take care of my Mother. I would never put her in a nursing home.

My husband works full time and has agreed with me that the best place for her is with us.

A few years ago I heard about a program for family caregivers that would pay me for taking care of her. It has been a godsend since the economy has gotten so bad and prices are rising faster than my husbands salary.

The cost of a nursing home is Six thousand dollars a month in my area. I get paid Twelve hundred dollars a month. I don't see how taking away Medicare and Medicaid is going to help the Government because people like me will have no other choice but to place their parents into nursing homes so they can work outside the home.

My Mom and many others like her didn't make the deficit so why take it out on them. Make the people that make millions of dollars a year pay their taxes just like everyone else.
