Unemployed Sept 16, 2013

I was laid off after 7 years of employment. The Company felt they needed to cut expenses. I actually had a discussion with my boss. I went over her head and she went one more over my head. I thought 7 years in HR and operations management I should have a job quickly. No.. I apply for about 6 jobs a week and I have only had one interview since Sept 16, 2013 and that was because of a friend that I knew.

I attempted to take 35% pay cut two weeks ago and applied for an HR generalist position. A very nice lady at the county sent me an email that she was over whelmed by all of the applications. A degree was not required but I got the feeling from her that many overqualified people had applied and she was not able to abide by her original hiring guide lines. I do not have a degree in HR. Yesterday their was a position open for $40,000 a year and they highly recommended that you have your masters degree. I hired and recruited people for 7 years and I now the job market is still not good. Even with my experience I thought I would have a recruiting job, District Manager job, HR job, or office management job fairly quickly. I will be 59 at the end of the month and when you look at my LinkedIn page you can tell I am older. I am great shape. This week I applied for two different positions as a Convenience Store Manager. I have 2 months left of my CO unemployment benefits
