They all turned me down
When my husband went on Medicare, I lost my coverage under his retirement benefit. My agent told me that because I had had a colonoscopy recommended and had not gotten one, I would be turned down. So I paid for a colonoscopy out of pocket. They all turned me down anyway, due to pre-existing conditions. Thank God Oregon has a high-risk pool and had to accept me. I have a high deductible and premium for not a lot of coverage, but I, unlike many I know, can at least afford to pay it, so was insured when I broke my arm last spring. My friend up the road is a few years too young for Medicare and has used up her savings on medical care for her recent broken arm. We simply need to take the profit out of health insurance and provide Medicare for all who want it.
