Special Needs Kids
I am a community volunteer in Brick, NJ, who works with special needs kids. Over the years I've met many families who can't afford health insurance. They have to rely on charity care and non-profit orgs for their medical needs. Those families who do have health insurance are often denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions. I cheered when the Affordable Care Act was signed into law. I am now appalled that some lawmakers are holding the overall budget hostage while attempting to repeal the very law that will help so many. I understand the adverse effects of a growing national debt; however, cutting health care and other benefits for children is not the right priority. I would dare any member of Congress to go without health care for his/her family for several months to feel what it's like. You most certainly wouldn't be playing these games now!
