personal story

I grew up on Welfare in the 50s and 60s and know what it's like to worry about not enough food on the table and not being able to pay the rent. Over 25% of the children in this country now live below the poverty level while the top 5% in the country and the top oil producers are asking for more tax cuts and more tax breaks.

We can't turn our backs on the most vulnerable among us and cut their support drastically. So many families are now struggling to feed and clothe their children and care for their aging relatives (many at home at a great savings to the government) in difficult economic times, through no fault of their own.

According to the Consumer report Index, in the last 24 months, lower income people have lost more jobs than they've gained while affluent people are gaining more jobs than they've lost.

Thank you for your attention to this,
