I recently had my annual ...

I recently had my annual (not actually sick, just an annual checkup) with my physician. With hospital laboratory charges for urine, blood, and who knows what other tests plus the actual doctor visit charges, it's no wonder I get an "annual" only every three or four years. Yes, I do have insurance. No, the insurance did not pay a dime.

Why see the doctor if I'm not actually sick? My family history includes cervical and colon cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid problems.

Several years ago when I had a colonoscopy my insurance company denied payment. If I had had colon cancer they may have paid but mine was considered a baseline, preventative procedure so not covered.

Insurance companies pay nothing or as little as possible for their enrollees health costs to pass the profits on to their shareholders.
