I'm in housing for the elderly and disabled, and current proposals include ending rent subsidies for the elderly and disabled. Without this, I will be homeless. I receive services funded by Medicaid that enable me to live productively. I experienced homelessness during the Reagan administration, and due to my health, I know that I won't have a chance of surviving on the streets now. I have to cope with the possibility that I will die as a result of the Republican budget - and for no other reason than to ensure that the rich are given another round of massive tax cuts and handouts so that they, in turn, continue financing the careers of Republican politicians.
From de-funding vitally important scientific research to plans to ending basic humanitarian food aid to impoverished American children, we are seeing the greatest bank robbery in the history of the United States, using a strategy that overwhelms the public with an onslaught of dangerous legislation. To prevent the complete collapse of the US, it is absolutely necessary to STOP the budget process immediately, then start over, presenting each of the radical proposals to public scrutiny, allowing democracy to determine the fate of these policies.
