My Dad and Mom grew up during the depression and Daddy worked hard to take care of six children and put food on the table, clothes on our backs and pay the bills. My Dad passed away in 1990 leaving my Mom alone as all the children were grown by then. She did ok by herself for many years with the help of Senior Citizen Centers, etc. She has been diagnosed with Dimentia and possibly Alzheimers and recently had to go to a personal care home as my sister who was caring for her in her home had to stop taking care of Mom because her husband had severe cancer and is still battling it. If it were not for the Medicaid, Mom wouldn't be able to stay in the home and the remainder of the children are working full time or either too sick to take care of Mom. Please don't let people like her fall through the cracks in light of the fact that many people making 10 times as much as anyone in my family who are paying their taxes to help take care of mom and those wealthier are finding loopholes to pay less that I. The elderly shouldn't have to suffer! After all if not for them none of us would be here today! Don't let them down, I beg.
