Loss of insurance due to illness

My sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She had insurance with the company she works for, but when she had to stop working because of chemo and surgery, her insurance benefits were cut off. Her only recourse to get the medical help she needed to fight the cancer was medicare. If not for medicare, she would be left on the sidelines to die. This is what happens to folks who live in developing countries. In the U.S. it seems as if some of the politicians want to move us backwards into the past when crimes against humanity were numerous and commonplace. Please think about what it must be like for so many folks who may or may not have insurance. Even for those who have insurance, it's not a fail safe. It's really inhumane to decide that it's ok to allow folks to suffer and die, but to continue to provide huge tax cuts for the rich.
