from a Nursing perspective

I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I have had my own tribulations with the healthcare system through my 2 pregnancies, but that is not what I am writing about here.

What needs to be said here is: DON'T PASS LAWS THAT ALLOW INSURANCE COMPANIES TO DISCRIMINATE. We all know they are "in it for the money" and will reject people ad nauseum if allowed to pander to their "moral" beliefs. This will affect newborn babies (if their mothers can't get care) and subsequently we will have children (then adults) who have lifelong healthcare problems because they had a rough start at birth. I already see more of that at my work than I care to.

Please do the right thing: remove language allowing HealthCare Providers to exclude healthcare based on "religious beliefs or moral convictions". No matter how you feel about abortion, allowing such exclusions will be a slippery slope leading to crappier healthcare all around in this country.
