Falling Through the Middle Class Ladder Rungs...

My husband lost his job back in May, so immediately we found out that we could not afford the private preschool in our area which costs $6000 a year. We could not put him in the "public" preschool because we had earned too much money from the year before. Once again, the middle class is getting pounded. We have worked hard to get here, both earning master's degrees and still paying off student loans. We are struggling to stay in the middle class, paying high private insurance rates. To break our personal camel's back, my husband's unemployment may be cut in December. We are both out of work and depend on that money while we look for jobs. It is atrocious to see our futures reversing back to our grandparents' reality in the depression and Washington as well as many of our fellow Americans could care less. The lack of empathy and integrity for the middle class and fellow Americans is disheartening at best. Congress needs to stand up for what this country was founded on-a solid pursuit of happiness for everyone. Otherwise we will plummet back into the same society which some of our ancestors escaped.
