Can't Get Blood Out Of A Turnip

I would like to retire, but do not feel well enough prepared to do so. I continue to work and am 71 yrs. old! My savings were diminished 1/2 in the stock market crash. They have still not made their way back. What savings I do have are making minimal interest. I have come to the end of the road of knowing what to do. I do not owe bills, but my home is not paid for yet. If taxed more, goodbye vacation and goodbye retirement. This is a rotten state of affairs. I have been working since I was 12. Now, even my Social Security, Medicare and Health Care is in jeopardy. I have done everything right and others (politicians, bankers, financial) have destroyed my plans through their actions and decisions. It really is not fair! Just try to squeeze a little more out of us. Something will have to give.
