“We need to accelerate the pace of progress… It’s time. Women are ready.” Mary Hughes, founder of the 2012 Project said this. And our team at Women’s Funding Alliance couldn’t agree more!

For the last 30 years, Women’s Funding Alliance has been a catalyst for change here in Washington State. We do our work in service to a vision that every woman and girl is able to live, lead and thrive. As we approach our 30th birthday, we celebrate the power of women coming together to advance change for each other and for our kids. We celebrate the wins that only come from our collective power.

And yet, as we raise a glass to a history we’re proud of… we look straight into the eye of urgent truths yet to be transformed for the better. We find ourselves wondering why women hold the vast majority of purchasing power in America while we continue to be grossly under-represented at countless tables of influence. Can we really be 90th in the world for women in legislatures?

Holding both our celebrations and urgency close to our hearts, Women’s Funding Alliance is launching a new film series dedicated to cracking open powerful dialogue about women and leadership. And we invite you to please join us!

Our series is called ACTION! Cinema: http://www.wfalliance.org/news/actioncinema.php

We’ll kick things off with screenings of the acclaimed documentary Miss Representation. This film brings to light how mass media is teaching yet another generation that a woman’s primary value lay in her youth, beauty and sexuality and not in her capacity as a leader.

We follow Miss Representation with screenings of:

The Invisible War: A groundbreaking investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military.

Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines: An exploration of the fascinating legacy of Wonder Woman and impact of real-life superheroines such as Gloria Steinem and Kathleen Hanna.

Screening events will take place in three cities including Seattle, Kirkland and Tacoma. We hope you’ll join us and get your tickets today! http://www.wfalliance.org/news/actioncinema.php

Meanwhile, as we toast all of the extraordinary change-makers out there… please know that we are toasting each and every woman who is part of the MomsRising community! Together, we must. And together, we will!
