Elisa Batista is a campaign director at MomsRising.org / MamásConPoder.org, a million-member organization advocating for policies related to family economic security, child health and ending discrimination against mothers. She assists the organization in reaching out to the Latino community and mothers, in general, through on-the-ground events and social media campaigns on the blogs, Facebook and Twitter, and online via e-mail action alerts.
She is also a bilingual journalist and award-winning blogger. She is the co-founder of the popular parenting website, MotherTalkers.com, which was named a “favorite mom blogger” by Ms. Magazine. She has also won an award by Latinos in Tech Innovation and Social Media (LATISM), the largest online network of U.S. Latinos, for her use of social media tools to promote causes. In addition, her writing has appeared at the Huffington Post, Daily Kos, FOX News Latino, La Opinión and Wired News.
When Batista is not on her computer, she is shuttling her two children or training for races and centuries. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her husband, son and daughter.
