Great news! The time has come for Denver to have its say about paid sick days. Every Denver voter should have already gotten their Paid Sick and Safe Time ballot in the mail.

Starting today, moms, dads, and the entire Denver electorate can vote to make sure that their schools and workplaces are safe and healthy. The votes of all MomsRising members are needed because the Denver Paid and Sick Time ballot initiative needs EACH AND EVERY vote to win.

While you do have until November 1st to mail your ballot back officially, we all know what happens to mail that sits in that pile for too long. Plus, we know the media will be looking at the early returns so to see what people really think about this measure. They need to hear from us that paid sick days are good for Denver. So, don’t delay: Vote now!
And, as you vote, please also remind your neighbors, family, and friends to VOTE YES and return their ballots too.
--Why is this ballot important to Denver families?
The reality is that nearly 40% of Denver workers do not have the ability to earn paid sick days on the job [1]. That means they often have to make a difficult choice: Go to work sick, or lose a day’s pay (and possibly their job) if they stay home sick or with sick kids.
We know that paid sick days are good for kids, working families, public health, and businesses. Paid sick days would help contain health care costs through prevention, early detection, and treatment of illness. With paid sick days, families will not be forced to send sick children to school where they will likely infect classmates and teachers. Workers with paid sick days would not spread illness to their coworkers and customers. It's a win win for businesses and families.
