Next week is a busy week for MomsRising!

We are going to be up on Capitol Hill twice bringing the voices of moms from around the country to members of Congress—and we would love for YOU to join us at one or even both of these events.

Here are the details about the 2 events:

1. Early Education Storybook Delivery

Early education and childcare is one of the top concerns for MomsRising members. Hundreds of parents have shared their stories with us and we’re heading to the Hill to deliver some of these stories to key decision makers. It's important for lawmakers to know what’s really going on with parents across America as they consider childcare legislation.

In fact, getting these early education stories in front of legislators is critical. Childcare now costs more than college in some states in our nation, and your help is needed to open the eyes of elected leaders about why they must take action.

In addition to the stories, we will be telling these members of Congress about a big, fun event we will be holding on the Hill in September (which you are all invited to!) to promote funding for quality, affordable early education programs.

When: Tuesday, July 22nd, 9:30-11:30am
Where: Hart Senate Office Building Lobby (right next to the giant black mountain sculpture). The Hart Building is located on Constitution Avenue, between 1st and 2nd Streets, NE.
Who: MomsRising members from around the DC area and YOU (and your kids, friends, sister... anyone you want to bring. The more the merrier).

2. Minimum Wage Storybook and Petition Delivery

This Thursday marks the 5-year anniversary since the last time the federal minimum wage was raised. The current federal minimum wage is stuck at $7.25 per hour. The federal minimum wage is behind inflation, and isn’t a living wage. Yet it has been five whole years since 1.5 million workers have seen a raise!

MomsRising has a petition signed by more than 13,000 people from around the country calling on Congress to raise the minimum wage to $10.10. If you haven’t signed it yet, you can do so here: http://action.momsrising.org/sign/momsraisethewage/. We are going to deliver that petition (on a zipdrive so it’s more green) to key members of Congress (including Speaker Boehner), along with a storybook filled with first hand experiences from moms working the minimum wage.

Here again, our voices are needed to spark elected leaders to take action. We need to bust through their Beltway bubble and share the experiences of people making $7.25 per hour to spark them to take action.

When: Thursday, July 24th, 10am-12pm
Where: Main lobby of Rayburn House Office Building, located on Independence Avenue, between 1st St. SW and South Capitol Street (#11 on this map)
Who: MomsRising members from around the DC area and YOU (and your kids, friends, sister... anyone you want to bring. The more the merrier).

RSVP here: http://action.momsrising.org/signup/CapitolHillJuly24/

We hope you can join us for one or both of these events!
