This time, candy is good for kids’ health!
Posted February 25th, 2009 by Donna NortonThanks to your amazing and sustained effort, Congress and President Obama have thrown a lifeline to children who need healthcare! Our national leaders have made healthcare for families a top priority during this time of economic crisis by passing several pieces of legislation that give states the additional money they need to cover more kids. They’ve thrown our kids a lifesaver, quite literally.
But our work is not done — California’s leaders must act soon to take advantage of all possible opportunities to get federal funds. The federal government has provided the life preservers for our kids but they won’t do us any good in storage! It’s up to our state legislators to throw these lifesavers to our kids.
Tell your CA state legislators, “Healthcare coverage for kids is a lifesaver for families! Do your part to ensure healthcare coverage for all kids.”:

Add your name (plus any personalized message you want to share) and we’ll deliver it to legislators — attached to some real candy lifesavers — to remind them that we’re watching and waiting for them to do their part to throw kids a lifesaver on healthcare. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle in Sacramento, but an attention-grabbing (and sweet) message always gets noticed.
Please pass this message on to your friends, family members and colleagues in California right away so they can ask legislators to give kids a lifesaver too! The more messages — and real candy lifesavers — our legislators receive, the stronger our message that children’s healthcare coverage is a priority that cannot be ignored.
Our continued energy and commitment to this issue is more important than ever. The federal government has given California an opportunity to cover uninsured kids and bring badly-needed federal funds into our state. The governor and state legislature must not allow that opportunity to vanish.
Don’t forget to send your legislators a strong message AND a real lifesaver to remind them that covering kids is indeed a lifesaver for families: http://www.momsrising.org/lifesaver_messages
Thank you for all your work on behalf of California’s children.
P.S. Has the economic downturn affected your family’s healthcare coverage? Share your story here.
P.P.S. Some MomsRising.org members recently had their Letters-to-the-Editor about the importance of children’s healthcare coverage printed in their local newspapers. Congratulations! Here’s one example: Eureka Times-Standard

July 15, 2009 at 6:27 pm by SaraMy children have been telling me about Kabang Energy Candy for weeks now, and telling me how great it is. But as a mother I was concerned about what’s in it. After reading the ingredients I was very very impressed. Yes it contains sugar, but only 3 grams. All the other ingredients are what my kids need on a daily basis. It contains 100% of Vitamin B6, 100% of Vitamin B12, 100% of Vitamin C, Plus Ginseng. I finally had a chance to try it myself and I have to say it’s awesome. My children have my approval on this candy 100%…Thanks Kabang Energy Candy, Sincerely Sara Johnson Orlando,

I am a washington state resident and my children have autism. I was wondering is there a way that i can make a recomendation for a state campaign regarding insurance companies and autism coverage? We recently lost a battle for sb5203. You can read more on the west seattle blog here: (http://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=14388#more-14388).
