Right now, your members of Congress are home in their districts—many working hard on their re-election campaigns. One thing we know for sure - they’ll be reading their local newspapers to track the election races and find out what’s important to their constituents. This makes it the perfect time to submit a letter to the editor in support of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)!

Will you join me in writing a Letter to the Editor that calls on Congress to act to re-fund CHIP when they return to Capitol Hill after the election?

It’s easy! When you click on the link above, we’ll lead you through a quick process to write a Letter to the Editor of your local newspaper. This tool is pretty magical—you can easily edit our pre-drafted letter, if you wish, and send it to your paper with just a few clicks.

The pre-drafted letter (which you can edit when you click through to the link!) reads:

“More than 8 million children nationwide are covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which is up for renewal this year. It is imperative that our national leaders take action to continue funding for this critical program.

Our children need access to the high quality affordable healthcare that CHIP provides. Children who are insured are more likely to receive regular check-ups from their pediatrician and even do better in school.

When Congress returns to Washington, D.C. after the election, their top priority needs to be re-funding the Children’s Health Insurance Program. This successful and popular program is too important and cannot be yet another victim of political gamesmanship in D.C.”

Just click the link to send a Letter to the Editor to your local paper and raise your voice for CHIP! http://action.momsrising.org/lte/CHIP_LTE/

Over 20,000 MomsRising members signed a petition asking Congress to continue CHIP funding because without it, millions of children nationwide will be at risk of losing their health coverage with no other affordable alternative. Families can’t afford to have uncertainty about whether their children will have health insurance next year, which is why it’s imperative for Congress to act as soon as they’re back in session.

We need to remind members of Congress that children’s health is a priority for their constituents. Together we can make sure that when Congress returns to Washington, D.C. after the election, they vote on a bill that would continue funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Taking a quick moment now to click the link to our easy-to-use platform is a powerful way to shine a light on this important issue and grab the attention of your U.S. Senators and Representative. And it works! Recently, MomsRising members had letters published in local papers about minimum wage using this tool—so we know it works!

Help us call on Congress to continue funding for CHIP by sending a Letter to the Editor today using our amazing (and easy!) tool.
