I would like to see health care addressed in a logical manner.

Why can we, the American people, not have a health care system that is equal to what our senators & congress members have?

We work as hard as they do.

    We deserve the same benefits!

I think it is important to come up with a solution to our healthcare problems, and not giving in to special interest groups is crucial.Healthcare reform is one of the greatest fights we have to win as a people. If we don’t come up with a solution, healthcare will become a luxury, not a right. It is also crucial we take whatever steps nessecary to become a clean energy, clean air country. We need to set an example for the world, and we can’t do that if we don’t save our world. Our children, and future generations have a right to breath clean air, and be able to see wildlife that isn’t going extinct; because of a polluted planet.I think taking these steps would also provide many new jobs, which we need right now.It shouldn’t matter what side of the political fence you are on, you should want this for future generations.

What concerns me so much for our country is that the two major parties are so determined for the other to fail, that, in my perception, they would overlook what is “the most good for the most people”, in favor of doing whatever is necessary to get themselves or keep themselves in power!! Don’t we all basically want the same things…..good schools for our kids, affordable health care, lower taxes, good business opportunities, etc? Too bad our “career politicians” can’t work together for the people.

Americans need to become MORE well educated and MORE informed. Our citizens also need to GROW UP to the realities of our times.
    Obama can’t make MORE jobs until NEW industries are created….. as in the GREEN jobs and industries. ALL of the old stuff IS gone and is NOT comming back. Anybody out there ever hear of working as a file clerk….. gone; switchboard operator…gone; auto mechanic…highly automated;
    steel worker…automated or in China.
I could go on and on about the kinds of jobs we had even 25 yrs ago that will NEVER come back.
We MUST reduce the cost of health care. We MUST change our use of energy and drive more street ready golf carts in small towns. We Must improve our education system and make higher education available to EVERYONE. We MUST force the Supreme court to reverse the stupid decision to let corporations determine who our public officials ar……even foreign owned corporations.

I am 69 yrs. old and have been looking at this stuff for a long time. We must STOP allowing the media to shape public opinion.
It’s NOT Obama’s fault as to where we are or are not in this country. This is a nation of the people, for the people, by the people.
WE THE PROPLE need to face the facts that our world changed long before Obama got in…. because we let Regan and Bush make the kinds of changes that hurt us.
And to ALL who say they don’t want government running things…. I say well move to Haiti. They didn’t even have regulated building codes. People NEED government. That’s how we got the interstate highway system and safer driving.

    May GOD Bless America

@Jan, way to tell it like it is!

I’m really curious to see if Obama is really going to talk about the cuts to spending that has been all over the media the last few days.

I really hope he doesn’t fall into that trap being set by the right and listens to the really smart economic minds out there who are telling him to stay the course and let the recovery get a stronger hold.

I’d really like to see some *strong* words on getting health care finished up in a meaningful way. One that includes a stronger public option than what’s in the Senate bill and putting a break on the big insurance companies’ profit lines. I’d really like to see their exemption from antitrust laws removed immediately.

I have waited for this issue to be discussed for a long time. Creating jobs is the only way to heal this countries economic problems. I understand we have other important issues but this is by far the most important. Put enough people back to work and you will see immediate gains in the housing market and the automobile industry, and when that happens the country will be on a consistent road to recovery.

Stand up to the people that did not vote for you. We the people voted you into office and you tried to please these people that voted against you.

I hope President Obama touches on work-family issues in his conversation about jobs, specifically child care costs and paid sick days.

I’d also like to hear about school lunch nutrition/innovative programs and improvements, especially given the First Lady’s involvement with the healthy food issue.

Thank you for providing this platform to share our hopes and feedback.

I thought I heard him say something about doubling the child care tax credit– did you hear that too? Still waiting to hear about paid sick days…

Glad to hear support for health insurance reform. We still need it, and so do the 14,000 people losing it daily.

Looking forward to talking about this with everyone on the blog tonight. I saw on the Huffington Post and cross posted here Ellen Galinsky’s great article. She says

If the messages being disseminated from the White House and from the Vice President’s Task Force on Middle Income Families in the past days are true, the President will not only be focusing on jobs, but he will be focusing on what it takes to help working families work — child care, assistance with college tuition, and elder care.

Looking forward to seeing if he talks about these issues.

I was laid off from Sarasota Cty. Government in June. Since then we are struggling. We eat thanks to food banks. My husband has liver disease. So tell me again, where’s the hope?

My husband has fibromyalgia, but I’ve still got my job, and I’d be happy to help. Family and friends have helped us when we were down, and I’d like to pass that forward.
