Thanks so much to the thousands of people who have signed our open letter to Congress letting them know that parents are facing a national emergency: Childcare now costs more than college in most states in the nation and many of our leaders have no clue that this is the case.

So, with your help, we’re giving Congress a clue!

Right now, MomsRising members are descending on Washington, D.C. to deliver your signatures, decorated paper dolls, and a book full of stories from parents across the country about why access to high quality, affordable early learning opportunities like preschool and childcare matter. If you are not in the D.C.-area to join us for the delivery, have no fear! You can still support us by doing one simple but important thing:

Why are we at the U.S. Capitol?

Childcare is a national emergency: In today’s economy, families usually need two incomes just to make ends meet. 70.5% of mothers with children under age 18 are in the labor force either out of necessity or by choice. Unfortunately, right now childcare for an infant actually costs more than college in the majority of U.S. states. And sadly, only 3 in 10 of our littlest learners have access to affordable high quality preschool opportunities. Research tells us that high quality early learning matters -- it provides the foundation on which our kids hopes and dreams will be built.

To be blunt, parents need safe enriching places for their kids to be so they can work; and kids need access to high quality early education so they can thrive. But too often high quality care it out of reach.

You live it, we know it—and we all need folks in Washington, D.C. to know it too!

Ask your members of Congress to be on the lookout for parents and kids delivering an important message today, and remind your legislators: Early learning boosts our kids and our economy! http://action.momsrising.org/sign/backusup/

We need your voice today! Can you help us out? Just click here to lend a hand and virtually be there with us: http://action.momsrising.org/sign/backusup/
Thank you!

Together we are a powerful voice for children and families.
