Take Action!

I was frazzled when I heard the Frog Princess wouldn't have school today. But, after posting a link to Facebook asking my friends to sign up to deliver a booklet of stories to Senator Nelson's office, the day became everything but.

You see, we've been working on spreading the word to get the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funded since the summer. In the Fall, the Frog Princess and I headed to D.C. to deliver a booklet to members of Congress filled with stories from MomsRising members from across the country who depended on CHIP (myself included).

Now, with members of Congress in their home districts, we have a chance to make one final push to be heard. This morning, I headed to Senator Nelson's office and a few friends met me there. With kids in tow, we happily dropped off our booklets and a few poker chips to let the Senator know that we need him to support this bill!

Do you have time to do the same?

(Want to do a delivery but don't see your Senator listed? Email Felicia@MomsRising.org to request a storybook.)

Head on over to the pages listed above and sign up. You'll get a copy of the booklet that you can take to your Senator. Remind them that we need to continue to fund this program so that more than 8 million kids continue to be covered.

I'm grateful that I had Chandra, Theron, Eunice and the divas with us today. We were able to do something good for our state but also, we were ablet to share a civic duty with our kids and hope that some day, they will pick up the torch.
