Mother’s Day video makes the NYT today! Watch & Send to Friends
Posted May 5th, 2009 by Kristin Rowe-FinkbeinerEver secretly imagined your name being celebrated on the front page of a newspaper as “Mom of the Year” as you click through online news sites while munching on a yummy snack? Your finger poised over the mouse, about to click the next new story, and you realize: Hey, I know that person! It’s me! And in the whirl of congratulations with the announcement of your award, you find George Clooney asking for your lasagna recipe, Octomom getting jealous of your adoring fan club, and moms lining up for your how-to book before it’s even written.
Turns out with the miracles modern technology we can do that for you! And, it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face and give you a chuckle or two in the process.
*See your name in lights on a prime time online newscast in this funny, inspirational and, yes, customizable video:
http://news.cnnbcvideo.com/index2.html
You can also make this online video feature a friend, your mom, and anyone you know who could use a little lift for the hard work she does just being a mom every day.
How’s it work? This very short video is a faux news story about the winner of the “MomsRising Mother of the Year” award. Through the miracles of modern technology, at the end of the video, you can customize the video to put in the name of your choice that will be shown throughout the newscast.
This means your name, all your friends’ names–and, importantly, your own mom’s name–can appear in a news story that reports who won the MomsRising Mother of the Year award. The news story even includes both Angelina Jolie and President Obama celebrating the mom that you choose. We’re talking really, truly customized.
Talking babies, silly dogs, and ace reporters; this video still has the entire MomsRising team laughing out loud, and we’ve been sharing it with all the moms we know. (You can share this video with friends too by simply forwarding this email, or by using the easy customization form at the end of the video so your friends receive the video with their name already inserted throughout the newscast as the recipient of the MomsRising Mother of the Year award. Fun!).

Remember, after you watch it, don’t forget to send it on to a mom or two, or three, or more in your life and brighten their days!
From all of us at MomsRising, in appreciation of you, and all mothers in America!
P.S. In addition to being very funny, check out the text crawl under the newscast. We snuck in a little educational content. What can I say? We’re mothers!
P.P.S. If you’re not a mom, the good news is that you can share this award with a mom you love by passing the video on to her here: http://news.cnnbcvideo.com/index2.html
P.P.P.S. We’re looking for members who can volunteer 5 minutes total to post this Mother’s Day card on their favorite mom/parent list serves, and on your own blogs if you have one. We’d love to hear about how you’ve shared the video. Feel free to drop us a line at Sarah@momsrising.org with “VIDEO” in the subject line of your email to tell us what happened.

July 27, 2009 at 7:16 pm by BrendaThat’s some high-class manipulation to use a clever charming video like this to get people on an email list where you then espouse — and try to get people to act on — your extreme, over-the-top liberal worldview. Next time, I will know to pass on the “free video”. I should have known better.

May 16, 2009 at 3:57 pm by Lisa JacksonI Couldn’t Understand Why My Friend Kept Asking Me If I Check My Email And Watch That Video She Sent. This Was About Two Days Before Mother’s Day. She Knew I’ve Been Going Threw A Few Things That Had Me Down. On Mother’s Day She Called Me, We Wished Each Other Happy Mother’s Day And She Said Go Check Your Email. So I’m On The Phone With Her While Viewing This Video, I Seen My Name And Screamed OMFG! She Laughed At Me, And I Had Tears Falling From My Eyes. I Told Her Thank You So Much. That Mother Of The Year Video Was Better Than Any Card,Box Of Chocolates Or Flowers I Have Received In The Past. I Will Kept This Video Forever And Ever. Thank You So Much {S.H}Becky
I Will NEVER Forget This Ever!

May 9, 2009 at 10:21 pm by ElsieI am wondering why your list will not accept any of the names I listed. I filled up the form and yet it said there are no names there. I want to send this for tomorrow and I cannot figure out why this is happening. Please explain what I am doing wrong, if anything.

May 8, 2009 at 10:45 pm by MarissI can sympathize with the complaints about some names not working for various reasons.. but yourself this very basic question. “How much did this wonderful email video cost you”? But yet some want real live people to spend time to pass through the non accepted names because someones name is not complete. Gratitude people, here is a really nice idea and service that, in this economy, is not taxed or has a price tag. We have such an entitlement mentality. Get over it and give some credit to those receiving it that they might enjoy it even though their name is not spelled correctly. I am sure as I who also has an unusual name are used to this problem.
