MomsRising Launches “A Peaceful Revolution” on
    The Huffington Post

New Blog Series Focuses on Work/Family Issues

MomsRising, a national online grassroots organization that promotes family-friendly policies, has joined forces with the highly-trafficked and prestigious Huffington Post to launch “A Peaceful Revolution,” a new series of blogs featuring leading thinkers in the fields of work life and balancing work and family.

Bloggers include MomsRising President Joan Blades and Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner; Robert Drago, Professor of Labor Studies and Women’s Studies at Penn State, co-founder of the Take Care Net, and author of Striking a Balance; Irma Herrera, Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates; Mary Ann Mason, Professor at The University of California, Berkeley and Author of Mothers on the Fast Track and The Equality Trap; and John de Graaf, President of Take Back Your Time.

In the first blog, posted today, Blades writes, “This new Blog is about consciousness raising and culture change. Very few Americans realize that there is deep bias against mothers in this country and that we are undermining family’s ability to care for children. I began to understand this a few years ago when I learned that equal pay for equal work is just as big a problem today as it was 40 years ago.”

This week new blogs will be posted daily for five days in a row. Starting September 17, bloggers will post weekly. Blogs will also be cross-posted on MomsRising and some of the bloggers’ own web sites. To follow the conversation, and even comment, visit www.huffingtonpost.com.
