America’s families need support. Every day, moms and dads work hard to ensure that their children are safe and healthy. They struggle to make ends meet and to do the best they can at work and at home. The budget passed today by the U.S. Congress will help America’s families thrive, in part by expanding health care and increasing investments in education.

This budget also invests in efforts to ensure that moms don’t face the “mommy wage gap,” by increasing funding for the Justice Department to enforce discrimination laws. Even in the 21st Century, women are still earning just 78 cents for each dollar earned by men and single moms earn only 60 cents on the man’s dollar.

Congress and the Obama Administration are making an important investment in America’s families – one that will help us overcome the current economic challenges and also ensure a brighter future.
